SCHOOL OF ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES, NANJING UNIVERSITY, CHINA
The School of Atmospheric Sciences at Nanjing University (NJU), China, is seeking outstanding applicants to fill 10 faculty positions at the ranks of associate and full professors, engaging in the research of meteorology, atmospheric physics, atmospheric chemistry, climate change, physical oceanography, Earth system science, and near-Earth space physics. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in atmospheric sciences or a related discipline, and strong potentials for research and teaching. For an appointment at full professor level, the applicant must also show an excellent record of research and professional accomplishments, for which professional experience as faculty or equivalent research position at oversea institute is preferred.
The successful candidate will be expected to 1) establish and maintain an externally funded and extraordinary research team; and 2) participate in the school’s teaching mission by mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. A competitive startup package will be offered for successful candidates, including annual salary of no less than RMB 400K for full professor / 240K for associate professor, near-campus housing, housing allowance, medical insurance, and no less than RMB 1M startup research funding, etc.
Atmospheric Sciences at Nanjing University
The School of Atmospheric Sciences at NJU is recognized both nationally and internationally for excellence in the education and research of atmospheric science, and is ranked among the top 3 of such schools or departments in China for many decades. The school consists of 52 faculty members, over 400 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students. The faculty, research associates and students in the school are active in conducting cutting edge research in numerous areas of atmospheric sciences.
The campus is located in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, a community of over 8 million people. It is recognized as one of the research and education centers in China.
