Roger Wakimoto, vice chancellor for research at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and president of American Meteorological Society (AMS), visited Nanjing University together with Wen-Chau LEE, senior researcher of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) on September 21. Nanjing University vice president Zhemin Tan met with them and extensively discussed substantive cooperation between the two universities.
Zhemin Tan briefly introduced the disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and international cooperation and exchanges of Nanjing University. He said that the two universities have conducted substantive cooperation on scientific research and talent cultivation in areas like life sciences, atmospheric sciences, astronomy-space sciences and literature, and hoped that the two universities can strengthen academic exchanges and further explore extensive cooperation in areas mentioned above.
Roger Wakimoto agreed. He briefly introduced the latest development of UCLA and the significant scientific achievements it has made, and expected to strengthen exchanges and promote in-depth cooperation with Nanjing University. He noted that reciprocal visits between faculty and senior leaders of the two universities should be facilitated so as to deepen understanding, strengthen communication and create more cooperation opportunities in the future.
Roger Wakimoto also visited SAS. Head of SAS and representatives of Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges presented at the meeting.
