CMA-NJU Cooperation

China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Nanjing University leaders have exchange visits for many times, signed CMA-NJU cooperation agreements, and fruitfully cooperated in many areas including talent cultivation and scientific research. Former directors of CMA (Jingmeng Zou, Dahe Qin, Guoguang Zheng) visited Nanjing University successively.

The School of Atmospheric Sciences, Nanjing University has established close cooperative relations with many departments of CMA. The off campus industry-university-research bases of the School of Atmospheric Sciences include National Meteorological Center, Jiangsu Meteorological Observatory, Anhui Meteorological Observatory, Hubei Central Meteorological Center, Shanghai Central Meteorological Center, Liaoning Central Meteorological Center, Beijing Central Meteorological Center, Chongqing Meteorological Observatory, Xiamen Meteorological Observatory, Suzhou Meteorological Observatory, Dalian Meteorological Observatory, Heilongjiang Meteorological Observatory, Guizhou Meteorological Observatory and Hebei Meteorological Observatory.

Academic exchanges and cooperation internationally and regionally with Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau

In recent years, the School has promoted academic exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad and expanded its influence worldwide step by step:

It has built the Joint International Research Laboratory of Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences with the University of Helsinki. This joint international laboratory later provides support the creation of the National '111' Plan Talent Recruitment Base by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.

It signed cooperation agreements on talent cultivation and scientific research in atmospheric sciences with the University of Oklahoma.

It holds bilateral academic seminars regularly with Nagoya University, the University of Helsinki and many other universities.

It has actively joined international academic organizations and engaged in international scientific programs like the Monsoon Asia Integrated Regional Study (MAIRS) and integrated Land Ecosystem-Atmosphere Processes Study (iLEAPS).

It invites 40 to 50 well-known domestic and international experts annually to give academic lectures and successively held important national and international academic conferences on climate change, aerosol and tropical cyclone.

The School has established substantive cooperative relations with world-leading institutions and scholars in many fields, actively conducted mutual visits and exchanges, and encouraged young teachers to engage in advanced studies as visiting scholars. In recent years, many scholars from scientific institutions of Finland, Germany and the United States have been serving as the seminar professors, chief researchers and postdoctoral fellows.
