The library of School of Atmospheric Sciences (SAS) in Nanjing University (NJU) has an abundant collection of original books, journals, and materials in Chinese and foreign languages, among which monthly weather review has boasted a history of over 100 years. It is situated on the D floor of the academic building, including another two rooms of BC201 and BC202. It covers an area of more than 800 square meters. There are about 60,000 books and materials on atmospheric science, science and technology, and meteorological data, together with more than 300 titles of journals, as well as dissertations of masters and doctors in previous years. Supported by NJU library, SAS library provides readers with inquiry and download services including the professional database of AMS (the journal of American Meteorological Society) and various electronic database resources of science and technology.

SAS library is divided into open-shelf library reading room, meteorological data room, and archives room. The open-shelf library reading room is located on the D floor, with special shelves for displaying new books and reference books; BC201 is the archives room while BC202 the meteorological data room.

The library has nearly 100 seats for reading, equipped with central air-conditioning. It has established a unified management system of digitalization, networking, and automation with NJU library in terms of borrowing and returning books, retrieving data, reading and downloading services.

Borrowing Rules

General books can be borrowed in line with open-shelf management, whereas reference books and journals are for reading only. Readers are required to check in with student cards at the service desk on the D floor of the academic building.

Undergraduate student: Limited to borrow six books for one month; the borrowed books can be renewed once for another one month.

Graduate student in master program: Limited to borrow ten books for three months; the borrowed books can be renewed once for another three months.

Graduate student in doctor program：Limited to borrow ten books for three months; the borrowed books can be renewed once for another three months.

Faculty and staff: Limited to borrow ten books for three months; the borrowed books can be renewed once for another three months.

Entry Instructions

Please bring your student card or other valid identification.

It is strictly forbidden to bring all kinds of food into the library or to speak loudly, to create a quiet learning environment.

Please take care of all kinds of books and journals in the library. When you finish reading, please send them back the original places or to the service desk instead of leaving them around.
